One thing that Apple doesn’t provide is a trivial way of getting video recordings of gameplay on the iPhone. After trying a handful of camcorder setups, it was clear that recording a motion-controlled game was going to be sort of a disaster. The game feels great when you’re playing it, but you move the screen around a LOT.
As a result, having a tripod-mounted camera wasn’t an option – I was getting seasick watching the footage! But then someone jokingly suggested attaching the iPhone to the camera.
Well, through the magic of the Joby Gorillapod, we made a quickie mount for the iPhone, and video recording was had! Then about an hour later, Colin & Dan figured out a way to get useful output from the simulator that looks much, much better.
So while our videos won’t be recorded with this makeshift rig, it was a huge improvement over the even-worse alternative!
