We’re happy to announce the launch of Card Ace, on the Palm Pre!

What is Card Ace? It’s simple – online multiplayer Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, with all the features and polish of Word Ace. In-game chat and picture-based emotes make playing online with your friends a rich social experience. Even better, Card Ace uses the same profile information as Word Ace – so players can quickly jump in, using their same profile, earning more XP, and using the same stock of chips they’ve racked up in Word Ace!

Even better, your Friends List carries over between games – so you can instantly find the people you loved playing Word Ace with, and join them right away in Card Ace!

The best thing? All this costs you absolutely NOTHING. Card Ace costs you $0 to play. This is not a demo, or a “lite” version. This is the full online multiplayer experience for free. Every day you play, you get a free $1,000 chip package. (Additional chips and in-game purchases are coming soon.)

Jump online with your friends for a game of Hold ‘Em – whenever you want, from wherever you are.

Available on the Palm Pre App Catalog Now!

  1. definitely liking the apps you guys are putting out on the webOS! while I don’t really need to buy chips, I’ll definitely be looking forward to new webos releases that require some money.

  2. Thanks, W, Dan, for the kind words!

We’re working on updates to both Word Ace & Card Ace, and a tournament mode is definitely on the list. Probably not in this next update (unless we churn through things super-fast), but it’s definitely something we really want to get to soon.

    • Hi, Jamie – we’ve seen a couple reports that Card Ace & Word Ace aren’t appearing in some users’ versions of the App Catalog – if you can e-mail support@selfawaregames.com, we’d love to get some info from you to help us figure out what’s going on. Thanks!

  3. Hello,
I just upgraded my Pre phone today and the app lost previous user stats. How do I revert back/migrate back to older account ? I do have my older info (User / Link ID) written down…

    Thank You,
    Snehal

  4. Hi, Snehal – if you can send us an e-mail with your user ID from both your old and new phones, we can make the transfer. Just send an e-mail to support@selfawaregames (-dot-) com

    Cheers!

  5. i have card ace and blackjack on my palm pre but have to diffrent like id’s ed380573 card ace and b6eacc7a black jack. is there a way to connect to two so my ids will be the same.

    • Hi, Shane – if you have different IDs on Hold ‘Em & Blackjack, just send an e-mail to support@selfawaregames(-dot-)com with the Friend Codes from both accounts (go to Friends->Find New Friend, and send us the codes there) and we’ll get ‘em linked up. Just be clear about which you want to keep and which you want to overwrite. Thanks!

  6. Hi, Javier – Card Ace: Blackjack will be out on Android platforms soon, with Card Ace: Hold ‘Em & Word Ace to follow a little bit after.

    Thanks!

  7. I had a palm pre but recently got a blackberry and forgot to get my useR I’d number how can I Retrieve that number so I can keep my account profile and will that app ever be avail for blackberry

  8. I alone have put up 15 bucks for chips so I can only immagine how much money is being made. With new phones constantly releasing my money isn’t going to support my ace play it’s being used for phones I don’t even have. I also wonder why isn’t there a $1 chip purchase via sms. I talked to 3 people all on the same table today who have purchased, and another one who always has a donation star. I love the game and all but maybe it’s time to expand the dev team. My guess is you have made millions.

    • Heh. I wish you were right, but alas.

First off, just to be straight to the point, we get people telling us they think the game is rigged all the time, and the only thing I can say is “It’s not.” We never change the odds for anyone, under any circumstances. So that means we don’t screw people who buy chips, we don’t screw people who don’t buy chips, we don’t screw people who send us angry e-mails, and we don’t give any preference to people who send us very nice e-mails.

The second part, why there isn’t a $1 purchase through SMS is simple – the transaction fees are *huge*, and for the $1 purchase, SMS simply doesn’t make any sense. Different types of payment options have different setups – with Apple, for instance, they just take 30% off the top of *any* purchase. With credit cards, Paypal, and SMS it’s all different. We do our best to give the users the best value possible, but some things just don’t work.

I’m not sure I understand this part, “With new phones constantly releasing my money isn’t going to support my ace play it’s being used for phones I don’t even have,” but if I’m guessing correctly, what’s bothering you is that your purchases are going to support development for things like Android? If that’s right, lemme clarify – we’re still working on the Ace games for webOS. No, there hasn’t been an update in a while, and one reason for that will become clear in the next week or so – purchases in the game not only help support the existing game, but *also* help fund development on new stuff. And there will be new stuff for webOS, abso-positive-lutely.

But the games themselves are inherently cross-platform, and that benefits, we think, everybody. With the release of the game on Android, Pre users now have more people to play with, and a whole bunch of new faces online. Many Pre users have friends with Android phones (or iPhones, or Facebook accounts), and now they can play with their friends. In addition, new features of the games are constantly in development – sometimes things are faster than others, and sometimes there are lulls as things get developed.

I’m glad you love the game – and your support is absolutely appreciated. I just want you to know that your support really is going to continuing to support the games (along with Self Aware Games as a company), and we’re constantly working as hard as possible to build the best experiences possible.

      Thanks!

    • Hi, gong – it depends on your plan. We don’t charge anything for online play (unless you make a purchase from the “Chips & More” page). The only other potential associated costs would be the data plan for your phone.

  9. This seems silly to ask, but on my htc evo i push the chat icon and text my chat then cant figure out how to send it lol i tried tapping my send and dosnt work. And i dont see any other way. Love this and blackjack but wanna chat too thanx for any assistance you can give

    • So, we get this question a lot more than I’d expect, so don’t feel too silly. Basically, when you’re done entering text, just hit “return”, and it’ll submit. Should be a reasonably big key on the right side of the keyboard. Ought to work.
