How did we prototype Word Ace?
Pen, paper, a stack of chips, and a handful of willing participants. When you get to the point where you’re sweating with tension, laughing manically, and can’t stop playing… Well, you know you’re onto something. ![]()

Word Ace Prototype Kit

First of all, Word Ace is an awesome game. But have you considered talking to Hasbro or another company to produce a physical version? I can totally see sitting down with a card deck (much like your prototype, only plastic), poker chips and a couple of buddies to play. At least then they wouldn’t use the anagram finders (as I’m guessing numerous iPhone players are doing, judging by some of the words I’m seeing).
Hey, Dan - we’re definitely looking at making a physical Word Ace deck. We even did up the original art in print resolution for exactly that reason (and got trademark protection, etc. for physical games).
So we’re definitely considering it. We’ll probably do a small run first, and sell ‘em through the website on our own. So you’ll see ‘em here first, when it happens.
Cheers!

I’ll post the cardback in a sec.

Hi, my fiance has the palm pre and I’ve played word and card ace and it was a very well made and addictive game. However, I have and HTC Hero from Sprint that with the Android OS and I have not been able to find it. I would very much love to use it on my phone. Especially because the quality for the application is magnificent especially because it is a free application. Apple has tons of applications and while Android does too, there is nothing that compares to these two applications. If there is any possibility can this application be made for my phone?
Hi, Goretti - we’re actually looking into it. We’ve got access to a Motorola Droid and a Nexus One, and have been playing around with ‘em for the last few weeks. No commitments to it at the moment, but it’s something we’re definitely thinking about.
