Where can I find Self Aware Games info?

"I have a question about Fleck..."

Fantastic! We're more than happy to answer any questions you have. But before you ask, check out the Fleck FAQ. It might answer whatever question you have!

"Help! My account disappeared!" or "I had to get a new phone, and now my old account is gone!"

Don't panic. We can get this fixed up for you - what we need from you...

From the old account:
  • Your username
  • Any other information that would help us track down your account
  • A description of your profile pics
  • Your best hand/word
  • Level
  • Total cash
From the new account:
  • Your Friend Code (go to Friends -> Find New Friend, and send us the code there)
Once we have those things, we can make the transfer.

All your games (aside from Taxiball) are free. You don't have ads. How do you make money?

All of our games are supported by in-app purchases. Right now, we have chip packages and donation stars available. Chip packages are pretty self-explanatory, but the donation stars are little shiny icons that'll appear by your profile in-game for 30 days to show that you're helping to support the game & keep it free for everyone.

If you love the games, please consider purchasing something from the store. This is the *only* way we make money on these games. Thank you for your support.

My pictures aren't showing up in game! What's wrong?

In the very few cases where there's a problem, we're more than happy to help. Just send your Friend Code (go to Friends->Find New Friend, and send the code there) to support, and we'll get it sorted out straight away. But before you do that, I have to ask... did you post something inappropriate? And we're not talking about nudity or gore, though we've seen many, many variations of both. We're talking about stuff that wasn't appropriate for a 13+ year old audience. If you've received a warning about posting inappropriate content, and you've posted the same thing (or something very similar) again, your picture privileges have probably been revoked.

For the record, you are not always warned before your image posting ability is revoked. If you post something egregious, we will block your images without warning the very first time we find something inappropriate. Look - the rules are simple. If you wouldn't want a 12-year old to look at it, or you think it's questionable, DON'T POST IT. Simple.

And last, but by no means least, when your pictures are revoked, they're gone for good. Because we only ban pics for users who have either repeatedly posted something after being warned, or people who post obviously objectionable content, and because pics are such a vital part of the social experience of our games, we take content very seriously. If you break the rules, you lose your privileges. That's it, and there's no arguing the point. So before you decide to post something, consider the consequences.
Word Ace

What dictionary does Word Ace use?

Word Ace uses the TWL (Tournament Word List). This is a standardized word list that's used in a lot of competition-grade word games. It does NOT contain proper nouns/adjectives, slang, or foreign words. The word that trips everyone up is "Zen" - it's considered a proper noun, and therefore, isn't in the dictionary. Stuff like month names, brands, and things like that - they're not in there, either. Think of it this way - if you'd capitalize it, it's not in the dictionary.

I spelled a long word (5/6/7 letters), and didn't get the right number of points!

The way the length bonus works, you only get the highest value. So if you spell a 5-letter word, you get +2 points. A 6-letter word gets you +5, and a 7-letter word gets you +20 points. These bonuses do NOT stack.

Why can't I link my iPhone account to Facebook?

Apple has some esoteric restrictions about that sort of thing. Unfortunately, unless they change their rules, we're out of luck. Sorry!

Are you guys going to do another run of Word Ace cards?

They're actually available now, either in-game, on platforms that allow the purchase of physical goods, or you can go to the Store link in the menu bar and buy them from this very website!

Card Ace - A Self Aware Game
Card Ace: Hold 'Em

How did a lower hand beat my higher hand!?

Almost every time we get e-mail about someone beating a higher hand with a lower one, it's because that hand was dealing with a side pot. A side pot happens when one person goes all-in, and other players continue to bet. For complete rules on how side pots work, please read this article.

The game's too slow!

Part of the reason that Card Ace is paced the way that it is is that mobile connections can be somewhat unreliable. As a result, the timers need to be long enough that lag in the system can be accounted for most of the time. We do have speed tables available on Facebook, where people tend to have faster/more robust connections. Just go to the Facebook version and when you select "Play Now", choose a speed table. All the timers are cut in half, and the game moves fast enough that it's almost difficult to keep track of what's going on!
Card Ace: Blackjack - A Self Aware Game
Card Ace: Blackjack

Your game is rigged! The dealer wins all the time, and I always lose!

Ok. First off, just to be clear, our game isn't rigged. Not in any way. The dealer receives cards from the same deck, in the same way that the players do. The odds are not stacked in the dealer's favor, and the deal isn't manipulated in any way, ever.

The rules of Blackjack vary from table to table, and the specific rules are enumerated in-game for us. Dealer hits on soft-17. Cards are dealt from a 4-deck, continuously shuffled shoe. Once those rules are established, the only way to cheat is to stack the deck, and we don't do it.

There are a lot of psychological reasons that people are prone to remembering bad streaks. People also don't tend to quit when they're ahead, but they're forced to quit when they lose everything - so most people end up remembering the bad & forgetting the good. So it's not like we don't understand that the game may *seem* rigged, or you might *feel* like you're losing all the time. But in every case, when I've gone back to check the logs of people who are convinced the game is rigged, even their logs show that they've had as many winning streaks as losing ones.

Lastly, if you look at the total stats - not just any single person, the game's behaving like one would expect it would. Some days, the dealer wins, some days the dealer loses. We're bound by the same odds as everyone else, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

I used to have X,XXX,XXX chips, then one day, I logged in and they were all gone!

If that's honestly the case, we're more than happy to look into it for you. Send us your Friend Code (go to Friends -> Find New Friend, and send us the code there). However, we've gotten a LOT of e-mails that are phrased like this, where when we go to check the logs, I'll find the person just bet it all in Blackjack, and it didn't work out for them. If you lost your chips, they're gone, and claiming they "mysteriously disappeared" is just going to waste my time and make me really angry.
